Meet the Teachers
Mrs. Lee Ann Ewert
This is my seventeenth year teaching at Stowell, my fifteenth year teaching first grade. I love teaching first grade, and math and science are my favorite subjects. Previously, I worked seven years in the Parents As Teachers program and three years as a preschool teacher. My undergraduate degree is in Early Childhood Education from HLGU and my Masters degree is in Curriculum Development from Southwest Baptist University. I live in Hannibal with my husband, Paul. We have five children and thirteen grandchildren. I enjoy reading, hiking, and spending time with family.
Mrs. Kyley Adams
This is my seventh year teaching and my third year at Stowell. I previously taught kindergarten for two years at New London Elementary and preschool for two years at the Early Childhood Center in Hannibal. I received my bachelor's degree in early childhood education at Hannibal-LaGrange University, along with my master's degree in literacy. My husband Tyler and I have been married for 3 years and welcomed our sweet son Waylon into the world this summer. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading, and decorating!

First Quarter:
- Uses grade-level phonics to decode words

Second Quarter:
- Identifies the main topic
- Uses some non-fiction text features
- Compares and contrasts stories
- Writes informative text
- Adds and subtracts within 20 to solve problems
Third Quarter:
- Uses final -e and common vowel teams in spelling
- Writes an opinion text
- Identifies tens and ones
- Organizes and interprets data
Fourth Quarter:
- Reads grade appropriate sight words
- Uses capitalization and punctuation in writing
- Writes time for the hour and half hour
- Describes halves, fourths, and quarters
